Abundant Boomer - How to Build Your Business When You're Still Working 9 - 5

Most people who start a business online already work "9 to 5" at another job. If you're one of the people who have another job while you're starting your business take heart, you can do this! The fact is, being hungry is a key ingredient to your success. If you're hungry to get out of the rat race and leave the grind behind, you will work that much harder to create a business that allows you to do, just that.

Do the right things first -- Treat your business like a business. Get a business licenses if it's required in your state or city and don't try to reinvent the wheel. There are certain business methods that work on the Internet that people who have gone before you have already succeeded at (after they did all the wrong things first). Additionally, it is important to be ethical and do your job first, then your business. You'll feel better about yourself, and you won't jeopardize your job.

Beware of energy drains -- Certain tasks, though necessary, can be serious drains on your time and your energy especially if your mind is not focused. Focus completely on each task as you're doing it and don't divide your attention to the point of distraction between tasks. It is also an energy drain to always focus on the mundane tasks instead of the productive tasks so make a deal with yourself to focus on the productive first to completion, then do the mundane tasks.

Get plenty of rest -- Set a certain amount of time that you can work on your business that does not involve giving up too much sleep. It is important to realize that you need to take care of your health and not work yourself too hard. There is no doubt that there will be times you pull an all-nighter, but make sure that it's a night where you can sleep in the next day.

Live in balance -- Remember that you still have family, friends, and community and be sure to schedule in time with them. You may have to give up an hour or two a day, but you don't have to give up one for the other. Schedule in every life event that you want to do and forget the rest. Psssst -- it's okay to say no too!

Get help -- Always remember to ask for help from your family, friends and contractors. You do not have to do everything and be everything. There are professionals that can coach you to success as well as contractors who can do a lot of those mundane tasks for you that you don't enjoy doing. Whether it's a virtual assistant you need, or a house keeper will be your decision to make, but getting help where it's needed is an important aspect of owning your own business.

Have fun -- Never forget to enjoy what you do, if you're not having fun at least some of the time then you might want to reconsider what you are doing. As the saying goes -- "Life is a journey, not a destination..." and it is meant to be enjoyed. Remembering that will help you know when it's time to take a break and when it's time to move forward.
