I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview real estate experts for the following article, with a deadline of Jan. 9, 2015:
STORY: WILL YOU BECOME A BETTER DRIVER IF YOU'RE A HOMEOWNER? An Insurance.com study indicates yes (details at tinyurl.com/pqfk3rz). Among the findings: Most likely to file an auto claim are drivers between 18 and 24 who live with their parents. 24.4% of drivers in this group have filed a claim in the past three years. Meanwhile, 19.7% of renters 18 to 24 have filed a claim, while 17.6% of homeowners 18 to 24 have filed a claim. The effect persists well into drivers’ 40s and 50s, albeit at lower levels. This story would explore the study's findings and ask experts how the data can benefit those seeking to buy a home. I’m looking to interview real estate agents, lenders, brokers, and other housing experts for this article. Please e-mail me back your interest, availability and phone number. My deadline is noon central time, Friday, Jan. 9, 2015.
QUESTIONS: 1. What particular results of this aforementioned study surprised you? Did anything not surprise you, and why? What findings are you skeptical about?2. Why do you believe homeowners would make for safer drivers—what can account for this in your opinion? How would owning a home affect your driving habits and lead to fewer insurance claims?3. How can this study’s findings benefit those seeking to buy a home (for example, they may be able to qualify for a combined auto/homeowners insurance discount—any other benefits)?4. Any other thoughts, tips, suggestions on this topic that I failed to ask about?5. What is your full name, title, company, and location where you are based?
