I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview housing analysts and real estate experts for the following article:
BUY NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE? EXPERTS ANTICIPATE HOME PRICES AND MORTGAGES BOTH TO RISE IN 2015. DOES THAT MEAN YOU SHOULD ACT FAST TO BUY?
Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time, Friday, Feb. 13, 2015.
QUESTIONS:
1. Do you have any data/study results showing that home prices and/or mortgage rates will rise in any significant way in 2015? (Please cite your source)
2. What is your hunch—how much will home prices rise in 2015? How much will mortgage rates rise in 2015?
3. Assuming home prices and rates will increase this year, does that mean prospective home buyers should act fast and buy sooner vs. waiting? Why/why not?
4. What are the pros/cons of buying now and the pros/cons of waiting until later in the year or next year?
5. Should buyers even pay much attention to forecasts about rising prices/rates and allow that to influence their decision as to when to buy or whether to buy at all? Is there a better barometer or criteria they should be following that should have a greater impact on their decision to buy/not to buy?
6. What kind of due diligence/homework should buyers be doing before rushing into a purchase?
7. Overall, why is right now a good or bad time to buy a home, in your opinion?
8. Any other thoughts or comments you want to add?
9. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
