Hello. It’s Erik Martin, small animal trends and products columnist for Pet Age Magazine (www.petage.com). Each month, I write about a different product category and identifying new trends and merchandise within this category for small animal pets (e.g., hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, etc.). My next column topic will focus on cages and habitats for small animal pets. I’m looking to interview product manufacturers, pet store retailers, and veterinarians on this topic. My deadline for info/materials/quotes is Tuesday, Feb. 24 before noon central time. Please let me know whom I can talk to and when for a phone interview, or if you prefer to type up answers to the following questions and email them back to me, that would be fine. Here are my questions:
1. What are the latest trends and products you can identify when it comes to cages and habitats for small animal pets? 2. How are any of these products innovative, unique and distinctive? How have they changed in recent years—any interesting new trends? 3. Are there any new/interesting ways to merchandise, display, and/or promote these cage/habitat products that you would recommend retailers consider?4. How has selling and merchandising these products at pet stores changed in recent years? Is it easier to sell these products today than years ago and why?5. What would you recommend that retailers avoid to ensure better sales of these products?6. What is your full name, title, company, city/state headquarters?7. Do you have any images of a related product you can also email me (high res JPEG format)? If so, please provide a descriptive caption and photo credit (if needed).
