I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview real estate agents, mortgage professionals, and other housing experts for the following article:

STORY: WHY WEAK HOUSING SUPPLY IS HURTING AFFORDABILITY FOR RENTERS AND BUYERS ALIKE: The lack of new supply is squeezing renters and buyers by keeping housing costs high, per a new Zillow study (visit tinyurl.com/kmgds7c for details) that finds that U.S. renters can expect to spend 30.1 percent of their income on rent, while homebuyers can expect to spend about 15.3 percent of their monthly income on a mortgage payment. This story will examine steps prospective renters and home buyers can take in a tough market where affordable units are harder to come by. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time, Thursday, April 16, 2015.
QUESTIONS:
1. What findings from this new Zillow study particularly surprised you, and why?
2. Why is the supply of affordable rentals and homes for sale so low in so many key markets right now? What factors are contributing to this problem?
3. Do you foresee this problem improving for rentals or homes for sale anytime soon? Why and how, or why not?
4. Meanwhile, what can and should prospective renters be doing now to find a rental property within their budget? What would you recommend?
5. What can and should prospective home buyers be doing now to find a residence within their budget? What would you recommend?
6. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?

7. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
