I am a freelance writer for Econtent Magazine (www.econtentmag.com). I’m seeking to interview digital publishers, electronic content providers, website experts and other professionals for the following story: USING A/B TESTING TO OPTIMIZE USER EXPERIENCE. This story will explore why and how to use A/B testing (comparing 2 versions of a web page to see which performs better) to create a better user experience. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to for this story. I prefer to conduct an email interview (whereby you send me written answers to my questions below that I can use as quotes in my story, which is often easier and ensures no accidental misquoting), although I can likely accommodate a phone interview if you prefer. My deadline is noon central, Tuesday, June 2. Please e-mail me back your interest and availability or your typed up answers to these questions:
QUESTIONS1. Define what A/B testing is, how it has evolved, and what it means today.2. Why and how should digital publishers/electronic content providers use A/B testing with their websites? 3. If you've never done this before, what do you need to know, and how do you get started?4. Is there a difference between A/B testing on a website vs. A/B testing in apps? Please differentiate and provide examples if possible.5. How do you know you're testing the right things/elements of a page/etc.?6. In a responsive design world, where your content automatically changes to fit each device, is A/B testing more difficult?7. What are the best practices for using A/B testing to create a better user experience?8. What are the challenges/drawbacks involved with using A/B testing that content providers/publishers should prepare themselves for?9. Why, how and when will A/B testing change and further evolve? What will A/B testing be like years from now?10. Can you cite examples of companies/websites that have effectively/successfully used A/B testing, and perhaps others that had difficulty/challenges with A/B testing?11. Any other thoughts, comments or ideas on this topic you’d like to add? 12. What is your full name, title, company, and city/state headquarters?13. Do you have any images (e.g., photos, graphics, tables, slides, charts, etc.) that pertain to this topic that you own the rights to that you can email me with a descriptive caption provided (no headshots/stock photography please)?
