I am a freelance writer for EContent Magazine (www.econtentmag.com). I am seeking to interview user-generated content experts, digital publishing and marketing professionals, and other industry experts for the following story topic: HOW TO INSPIRE AND COLLECT USER-GENERATED CONTENT. This story will explore ways to encourage customers, users, fans, employees and partners to submit/provide user-generated content via smart phones, social media, webpages, etc. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to for this story. I prefer to conduct an email interview (whereby you send me written answers to my questions below that I can use as quotes in my story, which is often easier and ensures no accidental misquoting), although I can likely accommodate a phone interview if you prefer. My deadline is noon central, Tuesday, September 22. Please e-mail me back your interest and availability or your typed up answers to these questions:
QUESTIONS1. Why and how is user-generated content (UGC, provided by users, customers, fans, etc.) so important today for sites/digital publishers/electronic content providers?2. For which types of companies/brands/publishers/content providers is UGC most important and why? Can you provide examples?3. How can publishers/companies encourage and inspire people to submit UGC? What strategies/tactics/steps should they try, especially if the brand or company is less sexy/popular? Can you provide at least 4 to 5 tips/action steps that readers should follow here?4. What types of UGC should publishers/companies request/encourage and why? Can you provide examples? Can you also provide one or more examples of a very successful real world campaign/strategy that generated UGC that was wildly popular?5. What directions/parameters should companies specify when requesting UGC to ensure that users submit usable/appropriate content?6. Whom should publishers/companies be seeking this UGC from? Customers? Users? Fans? Employees? Partners? Anyone else? Anyone to avoid?7. Do you have any statistics, data, research, or other you can cite or provide that pertains to this topic?8. Any other thoughts, comments or ideas on this topic you’d like to add? 9. What is your full name, title, company, and city/state headquarters?10. Do you have any images (e.g., photos, graphics, tables, slides, charts, etc.) that pertain to this topic that you own the rights to that you can email me with a descriptive caption provided (no headshots/stock photography please)?
