Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a reporter for HomeStyle, a nationally syndicated home improvement/design section published weekly in newspapers across the country (visit omaha.com/inspiredhome for samples). I’m looking to interview interior designers, remodeling experts, and homeowners who are planning or have recently completed a remodel for the following article:

INTERIOR WALL COLORS: WHAT'S HOT AND WHAT'S NOT. This article will examine the latest in-demand tones and hues and cautionary tales about colors that have become passé. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time, Tuesday, July 26.

QUESTIONS:
1. (THIS QUESTION FOR HOMEOWNERS ONLY) What room(s) did you recently paint, and what wall color(s) did you choose and why? What is the effect/impression you were trying to convey by choosing this wall color(s)? How long before you think you’ll need to repaint these walls because the color may go out of style or need a new coat? Any tips for fellow homeowners? What is your full name, and city/state location?
2. (NEXT QUESTIONS ARE FOR THE EXPERTS) What are the hottest color choices (please name the exact colors) in interior wall paints today in the following rooms: living room, dining room, kitchen, family room/den, bedroom, and bathroom? Why?
3. For the same rooms, which sheens do you recommend for each of those colors (e.g., flat, eggshell, glossy, etc.) and why?
4. What colors are out of style/passe in those same respective rooms just mentioned? Why?
5. What advice would you give regarding how to choose complementary/supplementary paint colors in the same room or adjacent rooms? Why and when is choosing two or more colors for this room/adjacent rooms a good idea?
6. What ceiling color should be chosen to complement/harmonize with the new wall paint color chosen and why?
7. Any tips on how homeowners can save money with a room painting project? Any things they shouldn’t skimp on (e.g., apply at least 2 coats, buy a brand that offers a multi-year warranty, etc.)?
8. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?
9. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
