Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a reporter for HomeStyle, a nationally syndicated home improvement/design section published weekly in newspapers across the country (you can view HomeStyle article examples at omaha.com/inspiredhome)
. I’m looking to interview
a fence installation expert from your company for the following article: GOOD FENCES MAKE GOOD NEIGHBORS – AND HAPPY HOMEOWNERS: This story will examine what to consider when it's time for a new fence, including composite/vinyl versus wood, style versus privacy, paint versus stain, and more. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is 10 a.m. central, Wednesday, July 20.
QUESTIONS:1. Why and when should homeowners consider installing a new fence (where there wasn’t one before) or replacing an old fence? What are the signs/symptoms that should indicate to homeowners that a new fence is needed?2. What are the fence material choices today (e.g., chain link vs. vinyl vs. composite vs. cedar vs. other woods)? Please provide the pros and cons of each (durability, expected lifespan, price per square foot, esthetic appeal, maintenance required, etc.)?3. In your opinion, which is the best choice of material and why? Try to provide scenarios for 3 different homeowners and indicate why each of 3 different fence materials is ideal for each of those homeowners.4. What are some important things to consider before installing/replacing a fence (e.g., neighbors, resale value, privacy/security, height, maintenance, etc.)?5. Is this a project best left for a professional or can a do it yourselfer install/replace a fence? Why? How much $ can be saved by DIYers?6. How can a homeowner best search for and choose a fence installation company?7. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?8. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
