Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a reporter for HomeStyle, a nationally syndicated home improvement/design section published weekly in newspapers across the country (visit omaha.com/inspiredhome for samples). I’m looking to interview home interior/exterior designers, residential painters, and home improvement experts for the following topic: A NEW BLUE HUE—WHO KNEW? AN INNOVATIVE NEW SHADE OF BLUE PAINT IS COMING SOON. Scientists have discovered a new vibrant shade of blue with properties that make it energy efficient, long-lasting and safe. The pigment, called YInMn blue, is named for its chemical makeup, and will soon hit the marketplace. The compound is completely non-toxic — ideal for marketplace use — and actually absorbs infrared light, keeping surfaces cool. Plus, it’s so chemically stable that the color won’t fade over time, even when exposed to water and oil. It could provide the perfect outdoor paint color. (Details at phillymag.com/property/2016/07/14/new-shade-of-blue)This story will explore why this is exciting news, the promise and possibilities this color paint may provide, and more. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time,Tuesday, August 9.
QUESTIONS:1. Why is this exciting news for homeowners—the fact that a new shade of blue has been discovered that, in the form of a forthcoming paint, can absorb infrared light, keep surfaces cool, won’t fade over time (even when exposed to water and oil; details at phillymag.com/property/2016/07/14/new-shade-of-blue)?2. Assuming this new blue paint (with the aforementioned features) hits the marketplace soon, where should homeowners consider using it on exterior projects (e.g., painting their home’s siding, etc.)?3. Assuming they also offer an interior paint version of this color, where would this new shade be best used (which rooms/areas), in your opinion?4. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?5. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
