Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country (see current examples at gmnews.com/?s=%22by+erik+j.+martin%22). I’m looking to interview realtors/agents, investors, lenders, and other housing experts for the following article:

REAL ESTATE ROI REVISITED: WHY INVESTORS ARE HOT ON HOUSING. A national survey of U.S. investors by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate found 89% of U.S. investors surveyed are interested in incorporating real estate into their investment strategies and that 80% of U.S. investors surveyed believe a real estate portfolio is one of the best financial legacies they could leave for their family. (details at: http://www.builderonline.com/design/consumer-trends/study-investors-warm-up-to-real-estate_o ) Furthermore, family is a driving motivation behind real estate investments: 79% of investor respondents feel it is important to invest in a property that they could use for themselves or a family member at some point; and 83% of parents who invest would consider buying a property for or with their child or grandchild to comanage and profit from together (40%), manage and profit from it themselves (39%), have their children or grandchildren live in the home during college (35%), or fund college tuition in the future (35%). This story would explore the survey's key findings, why housing is currently hot among investors, and what people should consider carefully before investing in real estate. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central, Tuesday, November 15.

QUESTIONS:
1. How do you interpret the findings of the aforementioned Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate report? What did you find interesting or unexpected about the results?
2. Why is housing/real estate currently hot among investors? What has brought investors back to real estate now compared to a few years ago?
3. What should people consider carefully before investing in real estate? What are the risks and rewards in the current and near-term market?
4. What tips would you suggest readers follow when it comes to dabbling in real estate investing? Should they consider both investing in real properties (e.g., a rental unit or whom they can flip) as well as investing in an REIT or other real estate investment fund?
5. How does one get started investing in real estate? What do you recommend here?
6. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?
7. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
