You might think that, with CMS offering cuts to physician reimbursement four years running, more doctors would be opting out of Medicare and insurance generally, and trying concierge and hybrid practice.
Yet a Kaiser Family Foundation analysis finds that just about 1% "of all non-pediatric physicians have formally opted out of the Medicare program in 2024."
This suggests to us at Part B News, the physician practice management monthly, that there's no great wave of physicians going into patient-pay models. Perhaps we're missing something. If so we hope informed sources will explain. If it's a fair reading, we hope to hear what may be the reason, in spite of the worsening reimbursement picture.
In any case, we'd like to know what the record tells you the best candidates would be for a shift to concierge/hybrid.
