I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview real estate experts for the following article, with a deadline of Dec. 18, 2014:
STORY: SMART HOME, SMARTER HOMEOWNER: 46% of consumers recently surveyed by ERA Real Estate and HGTV said it was important for their current or next home to have smart home technology. And 51% of the 2,437 consumers polled said they’d consider installing smart home technology in their home to make it more appealing to future buyers. This article would explore the benefits of adding smart home technology to your residence, what it would cost, devices/gadgets that you should consider, and other tips. I’m looking to interview home builders, architects, remodelers, real estate agents, brokers, lenders, and other housing experts for this article. Please e-mail me back your interest, availability and phone number. My deadline is noon central time, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.
QUESTIONS:
1. Why are more home owners/buyers desiring smart home technology today or valuing this technology higher?
2. Are smart home tech devices/applications easily retrofitted into an existing/older residence, or are they better to invest in only for new construction/new homes?
3. In your opinion (or based on research you’ve conducted), what are the top 5 smart home tech devices/applications/capabilities that home owners/buyers want today, and why?
4. For your top 5 list in question #2, what are the costs (including installation) for each as well as the benefits and (if any) return on investment (e.g., this device will pay for itself after 5 years)?
5. What smart home devices/applications would you caution homeowners/buyers against installing and why?
6. Any other thoughts, tips, suggestions on this topic that I failed to ask about?
7. What is your full name, title, company, and location where you are based?
