Deadline (Eastern Time):

Category of Expertise:

Real Estate/Mortgage
I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview realtors/agents, mortgage professionals, remodeling pros, credit experts, and other housing experts for the following article:

STORY: THE GREAT RATE WAIT: This story will explore what prospective borrowers can expect in 2016 when it comes to mortgage interest rates, what they should be doing to qualify for the lowest rates possible, and whether they should rush or delay their purchase decisions based on mortgage market predictions, and whether homeowners should be considering a quick refi now before rates tick up. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.

QUESTIONS:
1. The Federal Reserve recently raised interest rates slightly. How/why/when will that affect mortgage loan rates now or in the near future?
2. What is the current national average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage loan, and why is this still considered relatively low?
3. What is your prediction: How high will mortgage rates go in the coming weeks/months/sometime in 2016? What should prospective borrowers expect?
4. What can/should prospective borrowers be doing now to qualify for the lowest mortgage rates possible within the next few weeks/months? Should they be in a rush to lock in now before rates go any higher?
5. Should homeowners also be in a hurry to do a quick refi before rates tick up any further? What’s your advice here?
6. Overall, what is your advice when it comes to properly timing rates, lock-ins, purchase decisions related to mortgage rates, etc.?
7. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?
8. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
