I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country. I’m looking to interview realtors/agents, mortgage professionals, remodeling pros, credit experts, and other housing experts for the following article:
REMODELING FOR ME, NOT THE NEXT OWNER. A new NAR report (at tinyurl.com/owje48w) shows that the majority of homeowners find increased enjoyment and satisfaction after completing remodeling project. This story will examine why you don’t have to remodel only when you’re going to sell your home. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon central time, Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.
QUESTIONS:1. According to the survey, 64 percent have experienced increased enjoyment in their home after completing a remodeling project. Additionally, 75 percent of respondents said they felt a major sense of accomplishment when thinking of their completed project. Fifty-four percent of respondents felt happy about the changes to their home, and 40 percent felt satisfied. To what do you attribute these findings, especially among homeowners surveyed who don’t plan to sell after they remodeled?2. Why is it worthwhile to remodel now, even if you don’t plan to sell your home anytime soon? What are the financial and emotional benefits for stay-put homeowners?3. For stay-put homeowners, which remodeling projects do you recommend that offer the best return on investment (from an immediate satisfaction/practical/functional/emotional ROI point of view, as well as for future resale ROI)? Why? How much do these project(s) typically cost (labor + materials)?4. Why is now a good time to embark on a remodeling project? Can you point to economic/real estate/remodeling/materials cost indicators that suggest why now can be a favorable time in any way?5. What should homeowners be considering carefully/researching/doing before moving forward with a remodeling project? 6. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?7. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
