Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a writer with The Mortgage Reports website (www.themortgagereports.com). I’m looking to interview mortgage/lending professionals, financial industry experts, real estate agents, and other housing experts for the following story:

WHAT GEN. Y WANTS IN A HOME – AND WHY THEY’RE NOT BUYING IN LARGER NUMBERS. Findings from a recent survey by Better Homes and Gardens (details at http://tinyurl.com/bhg16survey) reveals that almost two-thirds (63% percent) of millennial respondents surveyed say that having a home customized to their tastes and needs is a top priority; 6 in 10 millennial respondents say that having a home that is "a reflection of me" is more important to them than to their parents' generation. A concurrent new study by Consumer Reports (details at http://www.consumerreports.org/personal-finance/the-real-state-of-real-estate) indicates that millennials believe firmly in ownership. Though just 26 percent currently own a home, 71 percent aspire to do so. This story would explore what features/amenities millennials value in a home, and what it will take to enable them to purchase homes in larger numbers (especially anything related to mortgage loans). Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to. I can either conduct a phone or email interview (with the latter, please email me back full-sentence written responses that I can use as quotes). My deadline is noon
central time, Monday, March 21.

QUESTIONS:
1. What are the major findings (from the two aforementioned studies) related to millennials that you find most interesting/important and why?
2. What do millennials want in a home today (features/amenities they value)?
3. Why are millennials not purchasing homes in larger numbers today? What will it take to enable Gen Y to purchase homes in larger numbers?
4. Does Gen Y’s reticence to purchase a home today have a lot to do with qualifying for/affording a mortgage? How/to what extent? What needs to change related to mortgages to get them off the fence?
5. What tips do you suggest for millennials to be able to qualify for and afford a home mortgage? What should they be doing to get on the mortgage fast track? What qualifications will they need to get preapproved/qualified?
6. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?
7. What is your full name, title, company, city/state location, and email address?
