Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a reporter for a nationally syndicated real estate section published weekly in newspapers across the country (see past examples at http://www.gmnews.com/?s=%22by+erik+j.+martin%22) . I’m looking to interview realtors/agents, mortgage/lending professionals, property attorneys and other housing experts for the following story:

STORY: RISE OF THE DIMINUTIVE DOMICILE: Why tiny homes appeal to many buyers. The tiny home movement is gaining steam, as evidenced by increased sales and media coverage. In fact, the average cost to build a tiny house is about $23,000 vs. $272,000 for a standard-sized house; the average tiny home is 186 square feet vs. nearly 2100 for a standard home, and 78% of tiny home dwellers own their home vs. 65% of dwellers of traditional homes. This article would explore the characteristics and pros/cons of a tiny home (size, amenities, price, locations, etc.) and what to consider before purchasing one. 4. How much can a new vs. resale tiny home cost (provide a general price range; you can use a particular market as an example if you want)?
5. What should buyers be considering carefully before committing to a tiny home to avoid buyer’s regret? What are the risks and downsides of owning a tiny home?
6. Will this tiny home trend continue indefinitely and/or increase in popularity, or is this to be a short-lived fad? Why?
7. Any other thoughts, tips or suggestions on this topic?
