Hello. My name is Erik Martin and I am a freelance writer for EContent Magazine (www.econtentmag.com). I am seeking to interview digital publishers, content providers, social media experts, and industry analysts for the following story topic:
THE NEW ERA OF MOBILE CONTENT DISTRIBUTION PLATFORMS AND THEIR APPEAL TO PUBLISHERS. Digital publishers and content providers now have a variety of mobile publishing platforms they can choose from to help distribute content faster and more effectively via mobile, including Facebook Instant Articles, Medium for Publishers, the Apple News app, Snapchat Discover, and Google AMP. These platforms and resources provide a fresh way to host static or customized content to mobile audiences, enable mobile content to load quicker, and provide an alternative to hosting content and maintaining a traditional content management system. This article will explore the pros and cons of each of these platforms/resources, how publishers are using them, and what to consider before partnering with one. Below is a list of questions I’m seeking answers to for this story. I can either do a phone interview or an email interview (whereby you send me written answers to my questions below that I can use as quotes in my story, which is often easier; written responses should be thorough and detailed, please). My deadline is noon central, Wednesday, May 4. Please e-mail me back your interest and phone availability or your indication that you plan to email me typed up answers to these questions:
QUESTIONS:1. Why are new mobile content distribution platforms/tools like Facebook IA, Medium for Publishers, Apple News App, Snapchat Discover, and Google AMP (any others you want to mention?) popping up and proving popular among publishers? What solutions are they trying to provide?2. Why should digital publishers/content providers consider partnering with/adopting one or more of these platforms/resources? Which kinds of publishers can best benefit (provide a real world or hypothetical examples)?3. Are these aforementioned platforms/resources really most advantageous for mobile content, or can desktop content also benefit? How?4. For an interested publisher, what are the pros, cons, and risks of partnering with: (a) Facebook IA; (b) Medium for Publishers; (c) Apple News App; (d) Snapchat Discover; (e) Google AMP; (d) (any other you want to mention)?5. What’s the biggest risk of partnering with one of these platforms: the fact that a third-party provider is controlling your fate and the discoverability of your content?6. Are these viable options for small publishers? How can small publishers benefit and use these platforms, or will they be shut out or lack the resources to use these platforms effectively? What do you recommend to small publishers/content providers?7. Any other thoughts or comments you want to add?8. I’m in need of an image that illustrates this topic; do you own the rights to a high resolution photo, graph, chart, table, figure, or other type of image you can email me that fits this topic?9. What is your full name, title, company, and city/state location where you are based?
