Dr. Tanya Prewitt-White (she/hers) is a trained Survivor Advocate, corporate performance coach, and the owner of Dr. Tanya Raquel, LLC. For over two decades, Tanya has been deeply invested in social justice research and embodied advocacy within the field of sport psychology.
A recovering overachiever, Tanya spent years serving high-achieving athletes, teams, and organizations—passionately advocating for their well-being. In doing so, she came to recognize the personal toll of prioritizing professional success at the expense of her own health and family. In a courageous move, she left academia and stepped away from her role as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant in athletics to reimagine a life rooted in radical joy and integrity.
Today, as an executive and performance coach, Dr. Tanya helps high-achieving individuals—those who, like her, have realized that accolades alone don't lead to fulfillment—craft lives they don’t need a vacation from. As part of this mission, she leads and facilitates transformative retreats designed to help professionals tune out societal noise and reconnect with the lives they truly desire.
Her leadership and impact in the field have earned her national recognition. In 2020, she received the Steven R. Heyman Diversity and Inclusion Award from the American Psychological Association (Division 47) for her social justice work in sport and exercise psychology. She has delivered keynote addresses at prestigious events, including the 2022 UN Women’s Conference: Victory Over Violence in Sport, the 2019 National Women’s and Girls in Sport Symposium, and the 2021 James Madison University Dorothy V. Harris Keynote and Award, among others. She has also been an invited speaker at the 2017 and 2015 US Tumbling and Trampoline Conventions, and the 2015 USA Rugby National Development Summit.
Dr. Tanya has been featured in media outlets such as Psychology Today, WGN DayTime, Spotlight Chicago, and WGNPlus Radio. She is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications and co-editor of two academic texts: Examining and Mitigating Sexual Misconduct in Sport and The Reimagining of Gender in Sport. She has held leadership roles as the Advocacy Chair for the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and as Equity and Diversity Co-Chair on the American Psychological Association’s Sport and Exercise Psychology Division Board.
When she’s not coaching or facilitating, Tanya can often be found cheering on her two young boys at the baseball diamond or basketball court, writing at a local coffee shop, or meditating on Insight Timer—where she also shares personally curated meditations that reflect her heart and healing journey.
