Colavito's purpose and goal in life is to connect people to art. Modern Image Painting is an exclusive art movement about traditional yet modern filmwork (photography without computers or special effects editing of any kind whatsoever). It has taken over 25 years for Colavito to develop a body of work created through these principles. Colavito combines his oil paintings and his modern sculpture through "natural" large format photography (without computers) to create a very special art style.

EARTH PROJECT - ART HEALS (United People Worldwide)

Earth Project - Art Heals is an ongoing art project designed to connect people to the inspirational world of art for healing purposes. The celebrities involved are those truly with a purpose and commitment to humanitarian causes. Earth Project is a photographic collection of people from 45 countries worldwide. Artist Michael Colavito has captured a diverse selection of people alongside notable celebrities to bring people together through art.

All of the portraits and images for Earth Project are captured in large format (8x10) photography and portray the original style of Colavito's Modern Image Painting Art Movement - dedicated to the dying art form of traditional filmwork (without computers or special effects editing of any kind).

Earth Project/United People Worldwide dates back to a noteworthy turning point in the history of the United States in 1985, with regard to the first exchange of artistic culture (in a photographic exhibition) between the United States and China. The exhibition, New York, The City And Its People, was presented at The Workers' Cultural Palace in Beijing, China - sponsored by The Museum of the City of New York and The China Institute. Colavito participated as an American artist in the exhibition and created the photographic artwork for the museum poster. The image served to project a first impression of our city to people in China and triggered personal concern by Colavito to remove borders and racism by uniting people from everywhere in the world through art, photography, and film. For over 20 years since the event, Colavito has been photographing a wide range of international people through his unique Modern Image Painting style of filmwork.
