My interest in living a holistic lifestyle started in 2004, when as a sophomore in college, I realized I had some significant health problems. I caught colds very easily, I had chronic bronchitis, I was overweight and I noticed it took a long time for me to digest my food. My food would sit in my stomach for hours, it was very uncomfortable to the point I decreased the amount of food I was eating. In addition these symptoms, I had chronic yeast infections. I took anti-fungal medications almost every month. It was not until I met a naturopathic doctor that I felt relief and she could tell me what exactly was wrong. Well it turns out, I had Candida yeast overgrowth and I was gluten and lactose intolerant.
Having an overgrowth of yeast meant no sugar, no yeast, no bread, no milk, and the list continued. I became frustrated and angry because all my doctors were telling me what I should NOT have, but not what I could eat. It took a significant amount of research on my part to find the foods and diets that were appropriate for me. But five years later and many experiments gone awry, I have found some great lifestyle changes that will help bring the body into balance. I work with people who want to learn more about digestive health as it relates to overall wellness, those who want to learn how to solve a specific digestive problem, and those diagnosed with Candida yeast syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and Leaky Gut Syndrome.
