A former newspaper reporter and TV news producer, Thomas Smith is an award winning writer, essayist and playwright.
He writes "The Writing Life" column for The Christian Communicator magazine and the How NOT to be Published column for Christian Fiction Online Magazine.

Thomas was named the American Christian Writers Association Writer of the Year in 2004, 2005, and again in 2006.

He is a regular faculty member at American Christian Writers Association conferences and also teaches at other writers' conferences.

Thomas was on the writing team (with Rick Warren, Chuck Colson, Lee Strobel, and Ravi Zacharias) responsible for Zondervan's New Men's Devotional Bible. He has been a joke writer for Joan Rivers and his comedy material has been performed on The Tonight Show.

An ordained United Methodist minister, worship leader and musician, he chronicles the "things that go bump in the night" from a Christian perspective.
