Residential real estate became Kay Grundhaus’s full-time career about 10 years ago. After owning and actively working in several hair salons over the previous years, it was simply time for a change. The thought of starting a new career was exciting to Kay at that time in her life. Upon being introduced to real estate, the decision was an easy one. The common denominators are that both professions are service oriented and involve working with people. The plus of real estate was that I could work from my home office! That’s proven to be better and better each year with today’s communications allowing her to take care of business on the go.
Since becoming a real estate agent, the business has gone from one extreme to the other. However, there are always opportunities in all markets. All clients of Kay’s are guided through the process of buying or selling, from pricing, staging, marketing, negotiating, over seeing all documents to the close of escrow. There is always an understanding and awareness of what is happening in each of the multiple steps of closing a sale, as buyer or seller.
Community involvement is and always has been a priority. For over 25 years Kay has been very involved with her local Kiwanis Club, where volunteers work and raise money for other non profits that have helping children as their main focus. Kay is also a long time member and Ambassador for the Torrance Chamber of Commerce where you’ll find her at most functions and also in one of her favorite roles, one of the volunteers who help new members maximize their chamber memberships. Most recently it occurred to her that the local community needed a new networking group! Kay acted upon this need and opened a new noon chapter of BNI (Business Networking International). It’s wonderful to have opportunities to network with other business people in the community several times a week. Just builds trust and business!
Some of Kay’s friends in these organizations are members of the South Bay Bar Association, and invited her to become an affiliate member. Since one of her specialties is seniors she has been attending meetings and seminars on probate and conservatorships, as well as living trusts, and has obtained a real estate certification on the same.
Staying healthy is important to her and some type of exercise is on her calendar 5 days a week. You’ll find her at the gym three of those days doing weight training and cycling. The other two days she walks with a group of men and women from Torrance beach to Redondo Beach and back. Let her know if you’d like to join them!!
Another big part of Kay’s life is her family. During slow real estate times Kay and her husband enjoy trips in their RV at different times of the year visiting family and friends along the way. Between Kay and her husband they have 5 children, their spouses and 12 grandchildren. As the grandkids are getting older and starting college they are spread from Georgia, Florida, Massachusetts, Texas and California.
While traveling in the RV, they like to listen to audio books on the road, and the next time they go will be even more exciting because they will be taking their two puppies that they recently acquired. I’m sure that will be a real experience. The more the merrier!!
Working, playing, taking care of business, family and helping others is what Kay does, and hopes to continue for a few more years. Kay’s life experience combined with real estate “know-how” contributes to the success her clients experience when buying or selling their homes.
