Mea is a nationally recognized authority on the Affordable Care Act, 501(r) regulations, self-pay eligibility and a variety of leadership and motivational topics. She was drawn to this field after spending over a decade at a bankruptcy law firm and witnessing the need for a solution oriented approach to address the rising number of uninsured patients.
In early 1990 Mea formed the Medical Assistance Program (MAP), to create benefits for the uninsured. MAP became part of a suite of services developed by Mea and her colleagues at Haase and Long to “compassionately create zero balances” including Payment Plan Administration, Medical Billing and Recovery Services. She also created the “People Services” department at Haase and Long, infusing it with innovative leadership, hiring and employee development practices embraced by the company today.
Mea is a graduate of Washburn University and a native of Lawrence, Kansas and currently serves as the Director of Solutions at Haase and Long. She enjoys sharing her passion for leadership, healthcare, and motivating employees in unique, humorous and insightful keynote speeches and seminars.
Mea is married and has three adult children along with numerous four legged, furry children. In addition to her role at Haase and long, Mea owns a professional race team and an auto repair and rental business. In her “spare” time, she teaches fitness classes and handles the PR and marketing for her son who is a professional racecar driver.
