Karl Davis is a Train Driver, Author, Poet & Stand up Comedian based in Hull, East Yorkshire in England.
He currently drives freight trains across the UK rail network, having previously worked in Depot & Operations Management, High Speed & Passenger Trains, in addition to working as an instructor and assessor responsible for training people with no proper experience to become fully fledged UK main line Train Drivers.
Karl has investigated a number of incidents, occurrences and irregularities involving trains, and has worked nationally with rail industry stakeholders to improve and analyse industry response to suicide prevention, near miss incidents, and mental health issues.
He also worked on the iconic Crossrail project advising senior managers and industry partners on rail safety, Accident investigations, and authoring the operating rules concerning test train running.
A published author, Karl wrote the opening chapter of a book entitled “Our Encounters With Suicide” (PCCS Books) and has written for The Guardian, New Statesmen, Liberal Conspiracy, Tribune Magazine, Morning Star and others on a range of subjects, and is also a guest blogger for HuffPost.
His debut novel ‘The Trackman’ is available as an ebook on Amazon and other online retailers.
Married with two handsome young boys and a ridiculously gorgeous boxer dog named Monty, Karl is currently working on a collection of new verse, the sequel to The Trackman, and a non fiction project in the area of railways.
