He earned a scholarship to college to play basketball, then he suffered 2 knee surgeries, fell into depression, and dropped out of college. He got back into school at Florida Memorial University, where he later would graduate with a degree in business administration. While in college Michael discovered digital marketing, and later partnered on a start up product called Banana Wave Bananamilk. While being on the team, Michael was able to help their start up project raise capital from investors, and later they were able to launch their product into retail stores like Whole Foods, Walmart, and many others.
