SELECT EXPERIENCE
Supply Chain Optimization - Managed six improvement projects for a 3PL with state-of-the-art facilities and systems. Reconfigured the existing automation and WMS to expand throughput capacity by 30%. Trained management on new tools to operate the facility to optimize both service and costs.
Supply Chain Strategy Led a joint team to develop both a long-term logistics network and a new merchandising strategy to support a multi-channel growth strategy for a dollar format retailer. The strategy altered the current track and saved the client over $10M.
Delivery Operations Evaluated and improved a new, fast growing delivery process for a large specialty retailer. Also, developed a tactical improvement plan including on-the-road evaluations for field service technicians in cable.
E-commerce Start-up - Performed fulfillment strategy, facility design, system selection, and implementation for an e-commerce licensee of retail store and consumer brands. The facility shipped its first order 5 months after the first strategy discussion. The business and its flexible, same-day service facility continues to be portrayed in the press as one of the model e-commerce successes.
Long-Term Planning - Completed the 17th project in a series for a direct-to-consumer retailer. Original strategy and design for a consolidated distribution and contact center reduced the processing cost per order by 28%. The new design includes the nations largest personalization operation with optimization techniques for short-interval-scheduling techniques in parallel with outbound fulfillment processing.
Labor Management - Managed the conversion of a failing team-based incentive program to a blend of individual/team/quality performance goals for a 3PL in multiple facilities. The benefits of this program have been presented by the client at multiple industry venues.
Facility Design - Designed and implemented a retail distribution center serving over 650 stores that has consistently earned the highest scores in productivity and operating cost benchmarks of all leading US specialty retailers.
Capacity Expansion - Assisted a Wal-Mart supplier with expanding the capacity of their manufacturing and shipping complex. Without new construction, doubled capacity, increased the number of product lines handled by 30%, and improved productivity 45%. The total project had less than a year payback.
