Jill and Scott Shortreed, owners of Charleston Balloon Company, were part of a select group from around the country to successfully earn their CBA (Certified Balloon Artist) designation, August 23rd in Athens, GA. The Shortreed's are 2 of only 2,500 worldwide designated CBA's to earn this prestigious accreditation and one of only two dual accredited Balloon Companies in the state.
CBA certification process is a key program in the worldwide Qualatex Balloon Network, which establishes industry standards and guidelines for balloon professionals. CBA certification is the most respected and comprehensive certification in the balloon industry, the CBA designation recognizes dedicated individuals who have achieved the highest levels of skill and demonstrated their ability as a balloon professional.
To achieve certification, CBA candidates are required to:
• Complete and pass a series of practical examinations.
• Be able to apply the knowledge of skills and techniques learned by designing and building professional arrangements and décor in a hands-on timed test and portfolio submission.
• Demonstrating their understanding of design theories, delivery techniques, and business systems via an oral presentation to a panel of industry leaders.

Ms. Shortreed is the Senior Designer and Artist, she is responsible for taking a client’s budget, purpose and vision and turning it into creative and quality balloon décor. Ms. Shortreed’s designs have appeared in several trade publications, chosen to appear in design galleries of an international website, and won 1st place in an international design competition.
