“A Sense of Belonging, A Healthier You” Campaign Extended Through February

What: The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit launched its largest marketing campaign in years, focusing on “A sense of belonging, a healthier you.” This message, that showered the airwaves, billboards and mailboxes, brought in 8,000 new members in January.

Two popular holidays fall days of each other in February, Fat Tuesday and Valentine’s Day (on Thursday), are typically when most people eat a lot of sweet treats – resulting in packing on extra pounds.

“We are so committed to helping people get fit and stay healthy that we have extended our successful campaign through February. If people join now, there is no enrollment fee and people get $275 worth of savings on Y activities and services including personal training,” said Reid Thebault, YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit president and CEO.

“So it’s not too late to join the Y and pay no fee to join.”

When: Throughout the month of February. “A Sense of Belonging, A Healthier You” campaign ends on Thursday, February 28, 2013.

Where: All ten Metro Detroit Y Locations – Birmingham, Downtown Detroit, Milford, Southgate, Farmington Hills, St. Clair Shores, Livonia, Mount Clemens, Auburn Hills and Royal Oak.

Why: The Y, for more than 160 years, has been helping Metro Detroit families get and stay healthy.

About the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit:

Throughout Metro Detroit, Y's engage more than 300,000 men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the region’s health and well-being and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. Anchored in communities throughout Metro Detroit, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.
