Tapping the Power of 2014: 5 Big Manifestation Mistakes To Avoid in the New Year

New Year after New Year people set all kinds of goals and resolutions. Most of them turn out to be empty promises. More than 90% of people fail to keep their New Year’s resolutions. There are a number of New Year’s customs we engage in that can dilute our power of manifestation and make it more difficult for us to reach our goals. I want to tip you off to some of the biggest manifestation mistakes we make at New Year’s to help you avoid becoming a statistic in 2014.

New Year’s Manifestation Mistake #1:
Setting a New Year’s Resolution without a New Philosophy to Back It up
One of the big mistakes (and this goes double if you’ve made the same resolution before and failed to keep it) is when you attempt to achieve something new based on your old way of thinking and perceiving. Whatever your goal is for the New Year, backtrack a little bit and dig into what your new philosophy is behind the goal. Your philosophy doesn’t have to be an elaborate manifesto. It can be a simple principle, personal “policy” or even a motto that keeps you centered in what’s of greatest importance in achieving the new reality you’re trying to create. For example, if you’ve struck out on your past resolution to save money (and it’s better to have a measurable goal), you might adopt a new philosophy to “pay yourself first off the top,” and automatically save a certain amount of your income as soon as you get it before you start to spend it on anything. Likewise, a simple weight loss philosophy might be “1 pound at a time.” The right philosophy can help to create a new attitude, manage your expectations, and maintain a new perspective regarding your resolution.

New Year’s Manifestation Mistake #2:
Overlooking the Inner Journey behind the Outer Goal
On a similar but deeper note as adopting a new philosophy, a New Year’s resolution sometimes requires more than just a change in your behavior. Especially in cases where you keep falling short of your goal or know that the change you want to make is a challenge, you either need to develop a new quality or strength within yourself to help make the manifestation possible OR you need to figure out how to play up your existing strengths to help you move forward. Your resolutions emphasize goals and the practical steps to getting there. Your transformation is more about the inner journey behind the process. For example, do you really just have a simple problem saving money or do you have an unacknowledged insecurity that you attempt to cover up by overspending? What is the journey that you need to take to become the person who can achieve what you want to achieve? The journey may not necessarily be a long one in terms of time. It may just be a shift in your consciousness and self-image that’s miles apart from how you’re used to seeing yourself or what you think you know.

New Year’s Manifestation Mistake#3:
Waiting until the New Year to Begin
The New Year’s custom is to start our new plans in the New Year. If you instead start the New Year with some momentum already behind you, you give yourself a significant boost and advantage. Most people, however, throw this advantage away. By waiting, you discard the power of now for the imagined power of a future time. Waiting, instead of getting started as soon as possible, can be indicative of an unwillingness to begin your new life, even though you say you are resolute about. Or it can indicate a lack of confidence in your ability to succeed. Continuing to indulge in your old habits or fears in the meantime can set you back. On the surface, it may seem like it won’t make any difference whether you start now or wait until New Year’s Day. Energetically it makes a difference because the delayed energy is less potent — sort of like fresh squeezed juice that you leave sitting out for a long time before you drink it. Most people think that New Year’s “Juice” doesn’t get squeezed until the moment you first start working on your resolution. Not so. That’s when you start drinking the juice. The squee
