Expanding Health, Happiness and Human Potential Through Huna
Kona, Hawaii — Many people today live with the feeling that their lives could be so much more than they are experiencing – in their jobs, relationships and finances. From across the globe and all walks of life, many come to Hawaii to study how they can live with new power, peace and prosperity through Huna, the islands' ancient discipline of energy, consciousness and healing.
"Whatever you think you are, you are more than that," Dr. Mathew B. James tells his students in seminars across the globe and at Kona, where he has been chosen by Hawaiian elders to carry on a Huna lineage of 28 generations. "Our work is to understand who we really are then demonstrate that balance, power, and connection in our work, our relationships, our every moment to create lives of exuberance and meaning."
Dr. James holds a Ph.D. in health psychology. He is President of Kona University and the Empowerment Partnership, Chairman of the Association for Integrated Psychology and author of the new book The Foundation of Huna: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times. The book details forgiveness and meditation techniques used in Hawaii for hundreds of years through Dr. James' lineage to one of the last practicing kahuna of mental health and wellbeing.
An expert on indigenous traditions and Ho'oponopono, the Huna approach to forgiveness, Dr. James is beloved and respected as a kumu (teacher). He combines his knowledge of Huna with cutting edge therapeutic techniques to free people from self-imposed limitations and move them to new heights of health, happiness and personal fulfillment.
In the more than 40 Huna seminars he has held in Hawaii, Dr. James has helped thousands of students reclaim the meaning, joy, and excitement of life. They include CEOs, coaches and trainers, military veterans and elite athletes and professionals. People such as Dr. Kenneth Kern.
Dr. Kern, a professor of surgical oncology for 20 years, turned to Huna to improve his communication skills when he embarked on a career change developing cancer drugs. He was so impressed with Dr. James – "his feel for humanity and compassion, and his skill as a teacher" – that he pre-enrolled for three nine- to 12-day advanced Huna seminars.
"Huna helps you clear up limiting beliefs and negative emotions — sadness, fear, anger, grief," Dr. Kern says. "That allows you to align your 'higher self' so you can be more effective in the real world."
Dr. James' trainings teach people how to:
• Awaken creativity and potential by clearing limiting beliefs and past emotional challenges: Ho'oku'u
• Discover inner peace, freedom, and love by healing relationships: Ho'oponopono
• Experience joy and vitality by tapping into and aligning with essential life force: Ho'omana
"Personal transformation is not about a weekend seminar that gets you high then leaves you flat within days," Dr. James says. "You've always had all the answers, all the power you need within yourself."
