You Made Your Body Flexible with Yoga. Have a Flexible Mind with Huna!

Twenty years ago only those who frequented New Age Bookstores or practiced Eastern religious traditions had ever even heard of yoga. Now your grandmother can take a yoga class at the local senior center. People of all ages and backgrounds have discovered the benefits of a relaxed, toned, and flexible body. It stands to reason that there are now things you may not have yet heard of that could have equal or greater benefits.

Now is the time to discover the benefits of Huna, the indigenous Hawaiian science of consciousness and energy healing. Huna has been an integral part of the Hawaiian lifestyle and worldview for thousands of years. The Hawaiians harnessed the power of Huna to live fulfilling lives, free of mental disorder, until it was banned from the islands. Huna has resurfaced in the last 50 years and is now being offered to the rest of the world.

Where Yoga has helped uncover flexible bodies, Huna assists with developing flexibility in the ways we think, process emotions, and experience satisfaction. Yoga teaches that greater and greater strength and flexibility can be obtained by slowly getting the body accustomed to deeper and deeper stretches. We learn that breathing and relaxing into the stretch allows the body to go to places we didn’t see as possible. With Huna students gain a greater sense of empowerment and emotional flexibility by releasing old ideas, labels, and patterns – our “black bags.” Slowly, the mind becomes accustomed to the freedom to choose a new path. Huna also utilizes breathing and meditation techniques which allow the mind and spirit to go places that didn’t seem possible.

Whatever you think you are, you are more than that. Our work is to understand who we really are then demonstrate that balance, power, and connection in our work, our relationships, our every moment to create lives of exuberance and meaning. This type of life is not just for so-called masters. This is how life is supposed to be for all of us. Practicing Huna and yoga allow us to expand beyond our perceived boundaries.

Students can practice Huna while practicing yoga or practice it separately. Huna can enhance a yoga practice by:

• Shifting thoughts about abilities, pain, or anything else, which creates shifts in reality
• Using “ha” breathing to increase one’s energy level
• Changing the unhelpful labels
• Creating a sharper focus, allowing students to get more from their yoga practice
• Learning to trust instincts

Huna teaches us to become empowered, independent self-transformers by accessing and effectively using our own intrinsic personal power to integrate our unconscious, conscious, and higher consciousness.

Huna has four basic precepts:

1. The Law of Cause and Effect
2. Perception is Projection
3. Mind/Body as a Neuro-Transmitter
4. Individual Responsibility for Change

Integrating these four basic concepts into your consciousness will result in empowerment, mental well-being, and emotional flexibility. Students of Huna learn to take charge of their lives and create the life they want to live, be it a healthier body, improved finances, or a more fulfilling career.
