Brilliant Boomer - Stop Acting Your Age

Do you remember when you were a kid and your parents or anyone else that was at least 2 years older then you told you to “start acting your age?” Well guess what…they had it all wrong. It’s time to stop acting your age!

Act your age. What does it mean? Slowing down, getting ready to retire, it’s time to relax, you’re working too hard. For some people maybe that’s true. But for the new boomer I am here to tell you that there is nothing further from the truth. So let me ask you which path do you choose to follow?

The path of the old boomer:
• Work a 9 to 5 JOB
• Get off at 5 for the long drive home
• Eat dinner
• Sit in front of the TV
• Go to bed
• Do it all again tomorrow

Or do you follow…

The path of the new boomer
• Get up when you wake-up
• Do a little exercise
• Go online to start your business day from home
• Eat when you feel hungry
• End your day when your work is done
• Create your new vision for tomorrow

Many women spend their life taking care of everyone else’s needs and wake up day to find that life has passed them by. Neglecting themselves their careers and business making them feel tired and older then they really are. Don’t let this happen to you.

Examine what’s might be draining your energy causing you to feel and act like the old boomer.

Relationships – people in your life constantly draining your energy.
Environment – the car needs to be repaired
Mind body and spirit – eating foods that are not good for you
Money – paying your bills late.

Finally, it’s all about mindset. So how do you break out of the comfort zone of being an old boomer and get into the mindset of the new boomer entrepreneur?

1. Do at least one small thing every day to move you closer to living your dream life. And live your dream life starting today.
2. Remember that much of what you do won’t work ….but that’s ok. When you know what won’t work it’s becomes easier to figure out what will.
3. Your business isn’t a job so don’t treat it like one. No one will tell you what time to start or when to stop. You have tasks to complete and if you don’t complete the task it won’t get done.
4. You are paid on the value you give your clients and customers. No value equals no pay.
5. If you are just doing it for the money it won’t work. Pick something that gives you joy and you have a lot passion for. You’ll need that passion on the days when it gets tough.
6. You are 100% responsible for your business. Don’t blame take responsibility.
7. If you don’t take action you cannot be successful. It’s not about wishing for success it’s about your daily actions.

It’s ok to stop acting your age especially if it’s not moving you closer to your goals. Age is all in the eye of the beholder. It wasn’t that long ago when 50 meant you were old because you acted old and when you act old…. you are old. At 50 the new boomer is just getting started in a new exciting phase in their life. So stop acting your age.
