Hypnosis: An Alternative Treatment with a Permanent Result

Hypnosis has been around for centuries and though often subjected to skepticism, it has been proven to be an effective cure. History is a great testament on how hypnosis was utilized to provide permanent cure to some cases in which medicine failed to accomplish.

One of the famous hypnosis treatments in the past was the case handled by Dr. Albert Mason in 1951. He was asked to help a young boy enduring a severe case of ichthyosis, a genetic skin disorder exhibiting scaly, thick layers of dry skin caused by the lack of sebaceous glands that produce sweat. Though the patient went through medical treatments, efforts to cure his congenital disease failed. In front of skeptic fellow medical practitioners, Dr. Mason performed hypnosis and suggested to the boy that his left arm to be cleared of the unwanted skin. After five days, the dry, scaly layers of skin started to peel off naturally from the boy’s left arm, revealing a normal layer of skin underneath. The rest the arm was cleared after ten days. Dr. Mason successfully performed hypnosis to clear the rest of the boy’s body and this breakthrough was recorded in the 1952 British Medical Journal. The result turned out to be permanent as Dr. Mason reported a few years later.

The case of Dr. Mason is just one of the many proofs on how hypnotism can be a powerful solution to relieve people of medical problems. Since hypnosis taps into the mind’s power to control the other aspects of our body, many people now resort to hypnotherapy in dealing with health problems. Two of which cases are smoking and weight gain. Both health issues reached an alarming rate and have been the cause of many fatalities in our society.

Smoking is a bad habit that most people struggle to get rid of. Over the years, solutions have been presented to help smokers but relapse remains to be inevitable. Hypnosis to stop smoking was offered as an alternative permanent solution to many smokers who find difficulty doing away with it. By conditioning the mind to fight the craving for nicotine, hypnosis to stop smoking is considered to be the safest way to battle the addiction. Weight loss is also caused by a person’s inability to control eating habits. Just like in the case of smoking, weight loss hypnotherapy also taps into a person’s consciousness to have full control over food intake.

Hypnosis presents a more viable result in the battle against smoking and weight gain since it empowers the mind to take control over these unhealthy cravings. Without the need for medical procedures or intake of any drugs, hypnosis is deemed to be a permanent solution without the side effects of medication and threat of relapse.

Hypnosis has to be performed by a professional hypnotist and someone with a credible and proven experience in this field should supervise the procedure.
