Tailgreat and Football Family Reunion

Tailgating before Penn State home games is a time-honored tradition in Happy Valley. But for those football fans looking for something different, Penn State’s Tailgreat Show and the Football Family Reunion could be just the ticket.

Tailgreat is a free, family friendly event, sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and Bank of America. Beginning in the Bryce Jordan Center three hours before each home game, Tailgreat features performances by the Penn State Blue Band, cheerleaders, and dance team. Special guests this season have included Suzy Beamer Bohnert, author of the Game-Day Goddess Sports Series, who hosted a clinic teaching fans the rules and lingo used in football. On Homecoming weekend, former Penn State Football All-American Lou Benfatti and local news anchor Kelly Goodman hosted an interactive clinic on the “Blitz.”

Across Porter Road, the Penn State Football Family Reunion is open to all fans beginning two hours before kick-off at Lubrano Park, home of the State College Spikes and Penn State baseball teams. Fans can grab something to eat and drink, play some games, or enjoy the entertainment. So far this season, fans have enjoyed an Elvis impersonator, a demonstration by a world-class footbagger—more commonly known as hacky sack—and visits by some of Penn State’s biggest fans like the Cowbell Man and the masked men known as the 12th Men of Penn State.

Stop by the Bryce Jordan Center and Lubrano Park before the final home games of the season against Ohio State and Purdue.
