While the psychology of bullies may vary, they do share a few common beliefs. They all tend to be self-centered and stuck in their own ego. There is an attitude of arrogance and entitlement. When opportunity knocks, do you open the door or complain about the noise? Opportunity is often a matter of perception. In our vision of the world is the image of ourselves. It may seem like some people have all the luck, which is often not a random act, but a time when preparation and opportunity come together. Although opportunity is often a result of what we create, we must first recognize it to thus tap into it. The world is full of abundance and while water may be everywhere, so many fish in the sea are dying...

Everyone needs systems to stay organized. One of the things that differentiates organized people from the rest is that they have a system for collecting appointments, tasks and ideas. Many people are overwhelmed by all the choices of systems: paper or electronic, pocket-size or large-format, daily or weekly, etc. I have found that people seem to think that the more complicated a system is, the better it will work. While I have found the opposite to be true, the trick is just to make a choice and get going with it.The easiest, cheapest, most portable tool...

Which wasn't too bad because I didn't gain any and going down is always good, but it was bad because I wasn't even half way to my goal.I must admit, I really slacked off this month, especially when I caught a cold and was sick for two weeks. In Bullying Prevention and Intervention by Swearer, Espelage, and Napolitano, their research reveals some of the myths about bullying which I have summarized below: Myth #1 Bullying is an isolated, individual aggressive action. The fact is that bullying and victimization problems are influenced by peers, families, schools and communities, and thus require a social-ecological perspective. Myth #2 Bullying occurs between a bully and a victim. Bullying is a dynamic, social relationship problem where the social-ecological conditions such as adequate supervision, home environment and peers determine behavior. Myth #3 Anti-bullying policies are ineffective. Mandated anti-bullying policies do increase awareness...

One of the points I make in programs I offer to teachers on how to best deal with bullying is to have No Rubber Rules. Both parents and teachers can be a bit "wishy-washy" when it comes to...

Children with special needs, especially those with sensory issues and those on the autism spectrum, tend to be more sensitive or prone to acquire fears that may linger past the typical developmental stage that appear in other children. The usual fears of the...

We need to realize that people had fewer possessions in previous years and made things last far longer than we expect things to last today; therefore, they had...
